Coffee is a drink that originates from a tropical plant. The coffee plant and the drink of coffee has a rich history that dates back to ancient times. The coffee plant is a subtropical plant. It grows naturally in sub-tropical regions throughout the country. Many years ago, coffee only grew naturally on the continent of Africa. It was most abundant in the area in and around the country of Ethiopia.

It was in Ethiopia that people first noticed the effect of coffee on animals. The people noticed that the animals that ate berries from the coffee plants seemed to have more energy. Many people believed these creatures seemed to dance in the wild.

These early African people did not know that the animals were reacting to the caffeine that is commonly found in coffee beans and berries. But they would soon find out. The tribal people in Africa began to boil the coffee berries to create a drink. The drink became very popular in many areas of Africa. As its popularity grew people began to transport coffee plants into different areas of the world.

The plants were first brought to the Middle East and were then transplanted to other tropical and sub-tropical locations. Coffee soon became well-known throughout the world. Below is a brief timeline of coffee and its appearances in different countries and regions of the world.

1400s: There is evidence that the world’s first coffee shop was erected in Constantinople.
1600s: Coffee was first introduced in the continent of North America.
1645: The first coffee shop was built in the country of Italy.
1652: The first coffee shop was founded in England.

Coffee is often made in different ways that can alter flavor and enjoyment. The most popular ways to prepare coffee are by brewing or pressing ground coffee beans. In some European countries coffee is brewed to make espresso. Espresso is brewed using highly pressurized boiling water which makes a rich and dark brew.

Coffee makers and coffee machines work by using gravity. They brew the coffee and the drink falls into a coffee pot. Taste and quality of the coffee can depend on the beans and quality of the grinding. But regardless of the beans and the quality of the grinding, all coffee needs to be stored in a similar fashion. Beans and ground coffee should be stored in air and water tight containers. If beans and grounds are correctly stored, they can stay fresh for a long period of time.
